Valley Children’s New Grad Program – Transition to Practice
The Valley Children’s Healthcare Transition to Practice (TTP) program was established to provide a structured transition into pediatric nursing. The yearlong program offers a supportive learning environment for newly licensed (or soon to be licensed) registered nurses and nurses with less than 12 months of experience. The Valley Children’s TTP curriculum engages nursing residents in activities that promote critical thinking, skill development, and lifelong learning. While resident cohorts begin every 3 months (January, April, July, and October), Valley Children’s hires new grad nurses all year-round so you don’t have to rush to get your application in or wait for the next cohort to start. You can apply when it feels right for you.
Classes are held once a month for 12 months and include didactic presentations, immersive activities, hands-on skill practice, and simulation in a variety of topics. Each class begins with a social work-led debriefing session where participants can share experiences, concerns and successes. Interprofessional team members share their unique expertise to increase communication and collaboration throughout the organization. Ongoing transition support is provided by leadership, educators, preceptors, and mentors.
Encouraging our nurses to continue to learn and to be the best that they can be is just smart. Empowered and educated employees further strengthens our team and upholds our mission. That’s why we provide all the education and support you need to further develop your skills and ultimately netter yourself. As you grow in your career at Valley Children’s Healthcare, we ensure you have access to ongoing education opportunities. Additionally, we have an education reimbursement plan in place.
How to Apply:
As a new grad you can apply for any RN position/unit that best fits your career goals. Each unit determines if they can accommodate a new grad at the time the position is posted. If you are offered a position prior to getting your license you’ll have the opportunity to start as a Nurse Tech which allows the opportunity to “get your feet wet” in the unit until you have successfully passed your NCLEX and received your license.
