Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

CHLA is currently recruiting an Otolaryngology/ENT Nurse Coordinator to provide high quality and compassionate nursing care to our Otolaryngology/ENT patient population throughout the continuum of care in a manner that incorporates patient and family focused model of care.


Essential Functions

The essential functions listed below are general examples and not a description of comprehensive duties.

  • Acts as expert resource in patient care issues related to Otolaryngology/ENT problems
  • Provides tracheostomy evaluation, treatment recommendation and, follow-up in the in-patient and out-patient settings.
  • Provides support to otolaryngology clinical operations as necessary
  • Educates patients and family on tracheostomy care management.
  • Documents clearly the plan of care, education, specific steps in care, including use of supplies and equipment.
  • Partners with nursing staff, physicians, and supports personnel to provide interdisciplinary tracheostomy care management.
  • Provides real-time education to all clinical staff members to improve their tracheostomy care skills.
  • Develops and teaches educational programs for healthcare team members on tracheostomy care management.
  • Promotes Evidence Based Practice and, participates in Research projects as appropriate.
  • Evaluates the efficacy of new and existing products for tracheostomy care.
  • Partners with Supply Chain Management (Value Analysis Program) to make recommendations for products and supplies.
  • Facilitates implementation of new products, using best practice and fiscal awareness.
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to maintain and acquire new knowledge relevant to pediatric Otolaryngology/ENT nursing. Utilizes knowledge to improve individual, team, and organizational performance.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Minimum of five (5) years clinical nursing experience, pediatric experience preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years Otolaryngology/ENT nursing experience.
  • Current California RN license
  • Current BLS and PALS certification
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

  • Positive attitude, compassionate, team player and, flexible.
  • Maintains high level of competence in otolaryngology/ENT specialty
  • Ability to work independently
  • Effective communication skills in English language
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Ability to work as a valued team member
