Vidant Chowan Hospital is a modern 25 bed critical access facility located in historic Edenton, North Carolina, and provides services and programs to 45,000 people in 4 counties. Vidant Chowan Hospital's partnership with Vidant Health gives our patients access to state-of-the-art services provided by an academic medical center. Our medical staff includes some of the finest primary care, pediatric, internal medicine physicians and surgeons in the region, and we have a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

About Vidant Bertie Hospital

Vidant Bertie Hospital is a six-bed critical access state-of-the-art facility located in Windsor, North Carolina that provides surgical, emergency and diagnostic services, specialty clinics and primary care clinics. Our primary care physician practice operates the Vidant Family Medicine - Windsor and we have a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The Emergency Medicine Physicians see approximately 30 patients per day, as well a cover the 6 inpatient beds during nights and weekends. Our medical staff includes some of the finest primary care, internal medicine physicians and surgeons in the region.

 

Position Summary

The Nurse Residency Program provides an extensive orientation to the roles and responsibilities associated with professional practice.  The process is a minimum of 12 weeks and may be extended for practice in specialty units. 

As a Nurse Resident, you will:

  • Work side by side with a dedicated clinical coaching team throughout your orientation
  • Participate in skill activities and classroom sessions focused on clinical topics
  • Receive mentorship from a nurse educator

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing, Associates in Nursing or higher
  • North Carolina RN license must be active prior to start date
  • 0-6 months of hospital RN experience
  • Requires two-year commitment to Vidant Health.  Commitment period begins at the beginning of your Residency orientation period. During this time you must remain in a full-time position, you may not transfer to part-time or supplemental pool.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

Other Information

  • Full-time position 36 hours per week, includes weekends and holidays
