In addition, we provide critical community services through a variety of programs, and at our four State Veterans Homes located in Orting, Port Orchard, Spokane, and Walla Walla. These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to honorably discharged veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star.

We are in need of an RN3 Staff Development Coordinator for our Washington Veterans Home. In this role, you'll assist with developing and maintaining a comprehensive training program to help us in meeting our requirements, objectives, goals and business needs.

Some of what you will be doing:

  • Developing an annual training master calendar to schedule all mandatory training for each calendar year; publishing monthly/weekly training calendars.
  • Modifying training schedules to meet the needs of the various departments; monitoring training records for staff and running reports as needed.
  • Participating in the development of New Employee Orientation in collaboration with HR.
  • Serving as a member of the Nursing Leadership team; developing, revising and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Serving as weekend, day-shift supervisor on a rotating basis.
  • Proactively identifying new trends in care delivery, changes to nursing standards, and advances in nursing practices.



Required Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Washington State License to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Three (3) years of experience as an RN.

Must also have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Capable of lifting up to 60 lbs using proper techniques; reaching for activities such as repositioning or to gain access to supplies; pushing or pulling with sufficient strength. Must be able to walk, sit and bend in an unrestricted manner on a consistent basis during the entire work day.
  • Accurate methods and practices of nursing and restorative care; personal hygiene and sanitation methods, record keeping, report preparation, infection control procedures and residents rights.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records and LTC regulations.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree involving major study in nursing.
  • Recent experience in staff development.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Recognizing the importance of resident-centered care and need to identify psychosocial needs.
