RN Neonatal Outreach Coordinator - (210002PC)
The RN Neonatal Outreach Coordinator is responsible for assessment, planning, education and follow-up with referral centers throughout the region. The Neonatal Outreach Coordinator will maintain open lines of communication with these neonatal referral centers to assess and optimize Children's National's relationship with them. As a member of the nursing leadership team within Neonatal Services, the Neonatal Outreach Coordinator will collaborate with all team members to act as a resource for staff, to promote quality nursing care through advocacy, research and education.
All nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, CNMC Policies and Procedures, and in accordance with all the applicable laws and regulations. The Professional Model of Care requires registered professional nurses to be responsible and accountable for their own practice. CNMC supports the development of the RN relationships within the community; specifically those relationships associated with the health and well being of the community at large.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent clinical work experience. (Required)
Minimum Work Experience
3 years Nursing experience (Required)
Advanced communication skills.
Required Licenses and Certifications
Registered Nurse in District of Columbia (Required)
Successfully complete hospital and nursing orientation at CNMC. (Required)

- Maintain knowledge of transport procedures and necessary equipment.
- Participate in community activities.
- Develop and manage outreach education and support programs (including but not limited to PALS, NRP, STABLE).
- Ensure outreach education courses and guidelines are based on evidence of best practice; responsible to development and oversight of outreach programs to meet the stated needs of referral facilities.
- Accountable for supporting/participating in the Division of Nursing’s Performance Improvement process.
- Perform assessments of transport and follow-up on any concerns/issues with referral facilities.
- Accountable to implement strategies for the advancement of successful outreach.
- Collect data on participation in all programs provided in-house and within the region; use this data to evaluate program and affect positive change.
- Provide resources for outreach education and evaluate effectiveness on a continual basis.
- Network with referral centers for program needs.
- Communicate outreach follow-up with interdisciplinary team.
- Attend interdisciplinary rounds as necessary.
- Serve as a consumer advocate for referral center concerns.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
