The Neuro Oncology Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse with advanced academic preparation and clinical training. The NP provides nursing and medical services to patients, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, as well as the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases. Delivers care and clinical assessments to Neuro Oncology pediatric patients who are receiving cancer treatment as well as educating and preparing patients for chemotherapy. Collaborates with other members of the health care team ie NCM, attendings, fellow, clinic staff, infusion center etc. Participates in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds and will have the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationship with administrative, clinical and faculty personnel. The NP will have organizational skills and the ability to work independently and follow through.

Minimum Education/Training Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing for "hold out as a Nurse Practitioner" as defined in Section 1482, Nurse Practice Act, Business and Professional Code.
  • Masters of Science degree in Nursing from an N.L.N. accredited graduate school of nursing required.

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Five years Oncology Pediatric experience preferred
  • 2 plus years experience as a Nurse Practitioner required *New grad will be considered if you have previous Pediatric Oncology Nursing experience.

License, Registration or Certification Required:

  • Current California Registered Nurse License and current certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • BCLS/PALS from American Heart Association
  • APHON Chemo Provider
  • PNP National Certification
  • Furnishing license
  • Enrollment in CURES
