Job Description

  • POSITION SUMMARY
    • Position Summary:
      • Supports the functions of the hospital-wide Infection Prevention and Control Program based on sound epidemiological principles. Responsible for unit-specific and site-specific surveillance for Nosocomial infections and drug-resistant pathogens among hospitalized patients. Identifies reports, investigates, and makes recommendations to reduce the risk of infection and communicable diseases among patients, personnel and others in the health center environment. Uses complimentary approaches such as and epidemiology, root cause analysis, and benchmarking to promote ongoing improvements in patient care. Provides consultation to nursing services, hospital departments, physicians, and others, on program, practice, policy, and educational issues. Responsible for the development, interpretation and evaluation of CDC, OSHA, HFAP, KDHE, APIC, and EPA guidelines, regulations, recommendations, and/or standards related to infection control and epidemiology. Assures implementation of practice consistent with these regulating and recommending agencies. Provides support and assistance in ensuring that Salina Regional Health Center meets all accreditation and regulatory requirements, and ensures the Board of Directors, medical staff, management, and employees are in compliance with the regulations of regulatory agencies.
  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
    • Minimum Education
      • Graduated from an accredited school licensed practical nursing program
    • Minimum Experience
      • One year experience in an adult clinical healthcare setting
      • Experience with infection prevention activities preferred.
    • Required Registration/License/Certification
      • Current Kansas Licensed Practical Nurse
      • BLS certification (Basic Cardiac Life Support [American Red Cross-CPR for the Professional Rescuer] or Basic Life Support [American Heart Association-Health Care Provider] certification will be accepted) within 90 days of hire
