Job Summary: | The Falls Prevention & Safe Patient Handling (SPH) Associate is responsible for developing evidence based practice initiatives in Falls prevention from a systems perspective, and creating standards of care to be used across the organization to decrease falls. The candidate will be responsible for tracking/trending root causes for falls and will collaborate with nursing and multidisciplinary team members in creating action plans to improve outcomes. The role includes Upstate University Hospital Safe Patient Handling program in maintaining and developing SPH policies/procedures to ensure the NYS SPH Laws and regulations are met. |

Minimum Qualifications: |
NYS licensed/registered (or eligible) RN required. Bachelors degree in Nursing with a minimum of three years (post RN licensure) acute care experience providing direct patient care required. Knowledge in falls prevention, and informal teaching required. Experience with analyzing and interpreting quality data is required. CPR-BLS certification required by time of appointment. Successful completion of a national board certification in leadership and/or Safe Patient Handling required within 2 years of hire. Outstanding oral, written communication and presentation skills is a must. |
